JLPT N4 requires stronger grammar control, more vocabulary and kanji, and steady listening practice. Use the sections below as your step-by-step study checklist.

2. Grammar Guide (JLPT N4)

Learn the most important JLPT N4 grammar patterns with simple explanations and targeted practice links. Focus on conditionals, giving/receiving, explanations, and passive/causative forms.

  • ~てあげます/~てもらいます/~てくれます Learn how to express giving and receiving actions in Japanese — a key JLPT N4 grammar pattern.

  • ~んです  Understand how to explain reasons and give background information using ~んです.

  • ~ので・~んで  Learn how to express reasons or causes naturally with ~ので and ~んで.

  • ~のに  Master the contrastive expression ~のに (“even though / despite”) used at JLPT N4 level.
